ORCA dominated ProStock 10.5T at Malaysian National Championships Round 3 (September 28, 2011)

Round 3 Malaysian National Championships took place at the MBA Race Track in Batu Pahat, Malaysia. Team ORCA drivers would be the attention and the one to beat in the ProStock 10.5T, and not surprise that top 3 podium spot was dominated by Team ORCA Jackie Siow, Siow Woon Fong and P.Y.Tang.

Tom Goh of XRAY made it to the show for H-Energy at the Singapore Invitational Championshops 2011 (September 11, 2011)

Good job from H-Energy-powered Tom Goh, made it to the show in A-Main at the Singapore Invitational Championships 2011, finishing 4th in the 1/10 GP and 9th in the 1/8th GP! Tom Goh registered in 2 classes for the annual SIC, 1/10 GP and 1/8 GP, running the XRAY NT1 and the V8

























In the 1/8 GP, Chee Lip Keong who is also H-Energy-powered nearly made it to the show, taking his Mugen to 11th overall seeing his best finishes after starting nitro racing this year.

2011 Singapore Invitational Challenge under way at East Coast Park Raceway

Annual event 2011 Singapore Invitational Challenge went under way today. A two-day event from 10-11 September 2011 have more than 80 drivers total in 1/10 On-Road GP and 1/8 On-Road GP, including H-Energy powered driver, Tom Goh in his Xray NT1 and Xray RX8, as well as Chee Lip Keong in his Mugen MRX5. Daryl Thong XRAY-ORCA hard fought 2nd in Super Stock 17.5T at Racecraft Infinity 2011 On-Road Challenge Race 6 (September 4, 2011)

15-year old Daryl Thong took podium finishing 2nd in Super Stock 17.5T at the Racecraft Infinity 2011 On-Road Challenge Race 6. His ORCA-powered XRAY T3'11 was running on pace with the leaders with a big chance to win the event. Using the version 2.1 firmware on the ORCA Vritra VTC Pro-Spec MK2 ESC, Daryl Thong was very faster and smoother in his driving, posted impressive fastest lap of the day for Super Stock 17.5T at 17.6s. Daryl Thong was able to challenge for the lead many times but mechanical failure in 2 rounds dropped him to 2nd. But until the very last round, Daryl Thong was on a TQ pace which means he would finished in 1st overall, but one too many mistakes missed the TQ by just 2 seconds, losing his lead to Jason Lee in his Tamiya TRF417. Impressive 9-year old Dominic Quek in his Acorn Racing-powered XRAY T3'11 completed 3rd in the podium.

XRAY/ORCA tops Racecraft Infinity 2011 On-Road Challenge Race 6 (September 4, 2011)

September round of Racecraft Infinity 2011 On-Road Challenge wrapped up with some exciting racing with the popular Reedy race format. Race started early morning Sunday but was disrupted by AMB system failure after Round 1. Race finally resumed at about 3pm and in Modified Class, P.Y.Tang piloted his ORCA-powered XRAY T3'11 to 1st overall taking 3 wins and a 2nd out of 6 rounds. P.Y.Tang led early pace posting 17.4s lap and was challenged by Alan Pang and E.C.Wee running a TOP Photon and XRAY T3'11 respectively.

P.Y.Tang XRAY-ORCA TQ denied a win in rain disrupted Total Hobby EP Touring Race (August 28, 2011)

After a successful first race, Total Hobby EP Touring Race was back on August 28, 2011 at the Puteri Mart racetrack in Johor, Malaysia. Attracting more entries from Singapore and Central Malaysia this time, the event competed in 1/10 Open Modified EP Class, 2WD Mini EP Open and an addition of the 1/10 GP Touring Class.







Close competition was seen from the 1/10 Open Modified EP Class, which showed huge improvement in pace from the local drivers. A-Main was highly competed with same qualifying system from last race, where best 2 of 4 rounds was taken for qualifying. The race started off hot with 3 different drivers taking the TQ in the first 3 qualifying. James Ki of Xray took the Round 1, Lee Han Chuang in another Xray took Round 2, while P.Y.Tang started off slow in the first 2 rounds finally led the pace in Round 3 taking TQ, setting the fastest timing of the day 24 laps 5:04.752 at fastest laptime of the day at 12.269s. It was great improvement from P.Y.Tang after changing springs setups and improving the tyre treatment with the NASA Mighty Gripper V2 to suit the high abrasive track. Posing another consistent 24 lapper in Round 4, P.Y.Tang took a light breather for taking the overall TQ. Good results for XRAY which took 7 spots in the A-Main!

Final A-Main showed an even more intense race which starting clean off the line would be crucial. Fresh rubber gave P.Y.Tang a good start off the tone. Ken Ng holeshot taking the 2nd spot immediately was following closely behind P.Y.Tang. Unseparated until the 3rd minute when Ken Ng had contact, while both leaders were passing backmarkers. P.Y.Tang stretched the gap took cruise in for the Final A1 win, with Jonest Wong taking 2nd position and Ken Ng fell to 3rd.

Final A2 was unlucky for P.Y.Tang when he was hit on the first lap at corner 3 dropping him way back to 10th. Unable to recover, P.Y.Tang stopped to conserve his tires. Ken Ng went on to win Final A2, followed by TC Boy and Alister Lim. Unexpected rain disrupted the race with Final A3 cancelled. Unusual ruling by organizer to take both final results denied P.Y.Tang for the win dropping him to 6th overall. Ken Ng claimed 1st overall, Jonest Wong 2nd and TC Boy 3rd.

In the 1/10 2WD Mini Open, new in the pit was P.Y.Tang Demon 1/10 Mini 2WD which featured a front wheel drive gear diff drive train and a laydown front shock system. P.Y.Tang did not start in the qualifying rounds with some problems in the gear diff unable to repair in time, he had to start last in the finals. Lee Han Chuang took TQ in his Atomic VM2. In the Final A1, P.Y.Tang managed to climb up to 2nd while getting a hang of the car, he posed the fastest lap in the final at 14.919s. Unfortunate contact with another car dropped P.Y.Tang to 8th with a DNF. Again, rain disrupted the race cancelling the remaining finals.

ORCA wins at the season finale of the Tamiya Asia Cup Singapore Qualifying 2011 Round 6 (August 14, 2011)

Tamiya Asia Cup Singapore Qualifying 2011 concluded their Round 6 season finale hosted by Stargek Singapore at the Racecraft Race Complex. Champions to qualify for the Tamiya Asia Cup Finals 2011 emerged from each class of 4WD GT, M-Sports, FF, F1 and Super Stock. P.Y.Tang, Daryl Thong and Colin Tong finished 1st in 4WD GT, Super Stock and F1 class respectively, all powered by ORCA in their Tamiya cars. They are also declared champion for the overall series in their respective class as Tamiya Asia Cup Singapore Qualifying Champion.











4WD GT started off strong with P.Y.Tang and Nicholas Lee setting pace for fastest lap with just 0.2s separating the two in round 1. P.Y.Tang unable to improve his timing qualified for 2nd, while Nicholas Lee posted 18.199s fastest lap in round 3 hitting 17 laps for the TQ. Chee Lip Keong H-Energy powered TA05R V2 qualified 3rd.

In the 4WD GT finals, P.Y.Tang changed final drive ratio along and shock oil, which improved his laptimes to 17.9s. P.Y.Tang was all over Nicholas Lee in Final A1, had a few contacts from the two front leaders while Chee Lip Keong stayed closely in 3rd. P.Y.Tang capitalized a mistake from Nicholas Lee in the 3rd minute and went on with the win. Nicholas Lee finished 2nd and Chee Lip Keong in 3rd. In the Final A2, it was an easier win for P.Y.Tang when Nicholas Lee retired from electronic failure, handing Chee Lip Keong 2nd. With the overall win already in hand, P.Y.Tang battled with Nicholas Lee for the whole 5 minutes in Final A3. P.Y.Tang had more advantage in speed but unable to pass with Nicholas Lee closing all lines. Nicholas Lee took the win for Final A3, followed by P.Y.Tang and Chee Lip Keong.

In the Super Stock Class, highly-motivated Daryl Thong was determined to take the overall title who had to finish above Kevin Wong in Round 6. Daryl Thong started off slow in early qualifying suffering from severe understeer, but he managed to improve his steering bit by bit , in order not to compromise too much on the rear traction. Although Daryl Thong was more consistent during the runs, Kevin Wong took the TQ with just 1 second separating them. Final qualifying position TQ by Kevin Wong, followed by ORCA-powered Daryl Thong and Shawn Chow.



In the Finals Super Stock, Daryl Thong claimed 1st, promoted from 2nd when Kevin Wong was imposed with a penalty. Dominic Quek and Shawn Chow was also promoted to 2nd and 3rd respectively.
