H-Energy and ZTW podium at Tamiya Asia Cup Qualifying Singapore 2010 Round 6 Finale (August 15, 2010)

Another season ends as the Season Finale of the 13th Tamiya Asia Cup Singapore Championships 2010 Round 6 took place at the Racecraft Race Complex. 4 classes were competed in F1, Super Stock Touring, Mini and the fastest class 4WD GT. Chee Lip Keong and P.Y.Tang finished in 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 4WD GT Class to complete the season finale with podium finishes for H-Energy and ZTW.

In the 4WD GT Qualifying Leg 1 and 2, Chee Lip Keong held the TQ spot but in Leg 3, P.Y.Tang snatched the TQ honour after making changes to final drive ratio on his Tamiya TA05R. Jason Lee would start from 3rd qualifying position.

The A-Finals typically dominated by P.Y.Tang was a little different this time as Chee Lip Keong took the win in A1 followed by Hasron and HJ Quek. P.Y.Tang regained his composure by securing the A2 with a blistering run with Jason Lee finishing 2nd. It was down to final A3 where podium spots are up for grabs between P.Y.Tang, Chee Lip Keong and Jason Lee. With a slow start at the tone, P.Y.Tang dropped to 2nd when Chee Lip Keong blasted through the first corner to move into 1st. Jason Lee followed closely in 3rd. Contact by Jason Lee at the left hair-pin dropped P.Y.Tang all the way down in the pack. Chee Lip Keong led the race with Jason Lee reeling down the leader, while P.Y.Tang was gaining some grounds to the leaders in every lap. The position stayed the same until the very last lap, when all P.Y.Tang and Jason Lee caught up to Chee Lip Keong. Under some pressure, Chee Lip Keong went wide at the right hand sweeper allowing Jason Lee to take the inside line, but just not enough for P.Y.Tang to gain a spot. Final A3 ended up with Jason Lee taking 1st, Chee Lip Keong 2nd and P.Y.Tang 3rd. Overall win by Jason Lee is his first in the Tamiya Asia Cup Qualifying in Singapore, with Chee Lip Keong overall 2nd and P.Y.Tang overall 3rd, in the season finale at the Round 6 of the Tamiya Asia Cup Qualifying Singapore 2010.

Final Top 3 Standings 4WD GT:
Jason Lee - Tamiya TA05IFS (Orca) - 3pts
Chee Lip Keong - Tamiya TA05R (H-Energy, ZTW) - 3pts
P.Y.Tang (TQ)- Tamiya TA05R (H-Energy, ZTW) - 4pts

Much awaited by many excited drivers for Round 5 of the Tamiya Asia Cup Qualifying Singapore 2010 ended up cancelled due to heavy rain. 4 classses were to be competed in Super Stock, F1, Mini and 4WD GT attracted almost 50 entries but it turned out to be dissapointed for some drivers who are still challenging for championship points to be able to qualify for the Tamiya Asia Cup 2010 in September at the Philippines.

ZTW and H-Energy tops 4WD GT Class at Tamiya Asia Cup Qualifying Singapore 2010 Round 4 (June 30, 2010)

Round 4 of the Tamiya Asia Cup Qualifying Singapore 2010 was held at Racecraft Infinity at the Bottle Tree Park. Four main classes of Super Stock, Mini, F1 and 4WD GT attracted over 50 entries in total.

In the qualifying rounds of 4WD GT Class, P.Y.Tang tops the group with the only 19 laps of the day at 5:15.276 with the fastest laptime of 16.188s, followed by Alvin Koh 18 laps 5:02.002 and Chee Lip Keong 18 laps 5:04.651.

In the 4WD GT A-Main Finals, P.Y.Tang outpaced the rest by winning all 3 finals, and setting another fastest laptime of 15.967s after some setup changes to make the car more aggressive. The 2nd overall position was still opened until the decisive Final A3 between Chee Lip Keong and Alvin Koh, which showed Chee Lip Keong's TA05R is much more powerful out of the corners and pressuring Alvin Koh right from the start of Final A3. Alvin Koh was able to stay calm closing every driving line not allowing Chee Lip Keong to pass, to finish 2nd overall.

4WD GT A-Main

1st P.Y.Tang (ZTW, H-Energy)
2nd Alvin Koh
3rd Chee Lip Keong (ZTW, H-Energy)

P.Y.Tang and Chee Lip Keong TA05R is powered by ZTW 60A ESC Version 2.0 and H-Energy 5000Mah 7.4V LiPo. Both drivers are very happy with the performance of the high punch of the ZTW ESC and the consistent power that the H-Energy LiPo delivers. ZTW high punch characteristics allows the stock motor to reach its top speed faster, and both P.Y. and CLK used profile 1 out of 4 for the Initial Acceleration setting.

ZTW and H-Energy topped 1-2 in 4WD GT Class at Tamiya Asia Cup Singapore Qualifying 2010 Round 3 (May 23, 2010)

The Round 3 of Tamiya Asia Cup Singapore Qualifying 2010 was held at Stargek Paya Lebar. P.Y.Tang of ZTW and H-Energy topped the qualifying in the 4WD GT group with 25laps 5:00 clocking the fastest lap of 11.3s. Chee Lip Keong secured second qualifying position at 24 laps 5:02 with best lap of 11.8s. In the Final A1, P.Y. secured 1st easily followed by Kevin Wong and Hasron (ZTW), while Chee Lip Keong suffered a broken steering linkage and dropped to the bottom list. In the Final A2, it was P.Y. who suffered from a broken C-Hub after hitting the corner marker hard before the transponder line letting Chee Lip Keong to take 1st in Final A2. It was down to the Final A3 to decide the champion, with P.Y. took the holeshot but found himself battling 1st with Jason Lee from 4th position. Jason Lee took the lead on lap 8 when P.Y.Tang was held up by backmarkers. P.Y.Tang was then pressuring and hard on Jason's tail which saw Jason hit a corner marker letting P.Y. to cruise back for the win and overall 1st. Chee Lip Leong stayed his cool and finished 3rd in Final A3 to secured 2nd overall. Both P.Y.Tang and Chee Lip Keong uses the ZTW 60A Version 2.0ESC and H-Energy 5000Mah 7.4V LiPo in their Tamiya TA05R

P.Y.Tang have recently tested the new ORCA Vritra TC Pro-Spec ESC and the ORCA Infinite 5500Mah 50C 7.4V LiPo to run in his open modified races, but have confirmed to use the ZTW ESC 60A Version 2.0 and H-Energy LiPo for the rest of the TAC season. P.Y. chose to run ZTW in this TAC season because of the ESC powerful acceleration and adjustable powerband that is more suitable for TAC type technical race circuit, and he is very happy with the performance and the new small size of the ZTW 60A Version 2.0 ESC and the consistent and reliable power from the H-Energy LiPo.

P.Y.Tang, H-Energy and ZTW TQ'ed at Batu Pahat Whatever Solution RC Challenge 2010 (May 2, 2010)

During the Labour Day weekend, Whatever Solution hosted their first RC race in Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia. It was a challenging track indeed as the surface is very rough causing high wear rates on the tires, and the most unforgiving track to the chassis due to bumpy long straights. Ride height had to be raised to 6mm to 8mm in some of the drivers. An increased in ride height would hurt the balance of the car but it would be a compromise to finish top in the race. In the Qualifying Round 3 P.Y.Tang secured his TQ spot by topping the rest with the only "would be 22 lappers" with 21 laps 4:55 as he did not pass the finish line due to some miscommunication with the race director at the end of the heat. The next contender qualified at 21 laps 5:01. In the Finals, P.Y.Tang managed only to finished 3rd overall as partly due to worn out tires which he used only one set of Sorex 40R for the entire race. P.Y.Tang's Tamiya TRF416X was powered by the reliable ZTW 120A ESC and H-Energy 5000Mah 35C.

He was using the new ZTW 60A ESC version 2.0 stock spec that proved to be a high potential esc for the stock class. P.Y. choses ZTW 11.5T Brushless Motor due to the smaller size track but the speed was not far off from most of the competitors that was running 10.5T thanks to the new ZTW ESC stock spec software and high-power H-Energy 5000Mah 45C Performance LiPo . The Brushless Class was limited to just 10.5T and 11.5T brushless motors.
